Wexford Pharmacy

Janet Hegarty is our Supervising Pharmacist in Grants Pharmacy, St. Aidans Shopping Centre. Janet is from Wexford and completed her post-primary education in Presentation Secondary School, Grogan’s Road. She began studying Pharmacy in Trinity College Dublin in 1988, graduating with a first class honours degree in 1992. Janet then undertook a post-doctorate research project in the Department of Pharmaceutics, Trinity College Dublin and was awarded a PhD in 1996. She also completed a Diploma in Statistics in Trinity College Dublin in 1996.

After graduation Janet began working in Formulation and Process Development for Elan Corporation, Athlone, Co Westmeath in 1997, initially as a Senior Scientist, then as a Section Head. This was a highly regulated environment, approved by the Irish Medicines Board and the United States Food and Drug Administration. During Janet's time with Elan, she developed many skills, which she has  applied to her career in community pharmacy ever since – including accuracy, communication skills, people management, project management, writing and reviewing procedures and protocols, and performing and responding to audits.
